The Wilmette Harbor Club, located north of Chicago on Lake Michigan, includes a clubhouse with both indoor and outdoor dining, a gas dock, and mooring for several hundred boats. Since 1929 the Wilmette harbor's Sheridan Shore Yacht Club has hosted sailboat fleet racing during the summer months. Wilmette harbor is also home to the Sheridan Shore Sailing School for both adults and children.

Wilmette Harbor Club

Pictured is my mother, Shirley Klinka, me (Marcy Christerson), and my daughter Hope when she was three months old in 1994. My mother and I both had Arrows. She had Gussied Up, and I had Robinhood. Over time she moved to Wind Song, a Catalina 22. I went stink pot, and got a twenty-two foot power boat we named Dancing Bear.

I love this event because it kicks off the boating season. Spring is in the air at the Wilmette Harbor Club and everyone is excited to get back out on Lake Michigan. Respecting all the Moms in this lovely setting feels aligned with maritime traditions. Boats are historically referred to as "she" and goddesses and mother figures play a protective role in looking after a ship and its crew.

No busy restaurants, no cooking! Just your family, good food, BYOB of your favorite, some boater fellowship and the best Lake Michigan view around. This event can't be beat!!
