The Wilmette Harbor Club, located north of Chicago on Lake Michigan, includes a clubhouse with both indoor and outdoor dining, a gas dock, and mooring for several hundred boats. Since 1929 the Wilmette harbor's Sheridan Shore Yacht Club has hosted sailboat fleet racing during the summer months. Wilmette harbor is also home to the Sheridan Shore Sailing School for both adults and children.

Wilmette Harbor Club

For years we’ve been helping sailors gain more knowledge and enjoy more time on the water. With the recent addition of key staff, we are now offering the same instruction to the powerboat community. Whether you are looking for more practice, want a family member to learn, or simply would benefit from a refresher, feel free to reach out and schedule a private lesson either on your vessel or one from the Sailing School.

Basic Powerboat Class (1-Hour Course)
This course is taught in Wilmette Harbor. Our instructor will accompany you on your boat to review the basics of powerboat operation.

Basic Powerboat Class (2-Hour Course)
The 2-hour course covers the same material as the 1-hour course but affords more time for practice, repetition, and opportunities for multiple family members to practice different procedures.

What folks are saying:

“I recently took the Powerboat course with John and it exceeded my expectations. John was very patient and extremely knowledgeable.I was impressed with his knowledge, experience, and his ability to convey information in a clear, concise, and understandable manner. The practical instruction provided was excellent and the time spent on the water was very informative and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend the Powerboat instruction at Sheridan Shore.”
