The Wilmette Harbor Club, located north of Chicago on Lake Michigan, includes a clubhouse with both indoor and outdoor dining, a gas dock, and mooring for several hundred boats. Since 1929 the Wilmette harbor's Sheridan Shore Yacht Club has hosted sailboat fleet racing during the summer months. Wilmette harbor is also home to the Sheridan Shore Sailing School for both adults and children.

New sailors welcome!

US Sailing, the national governing body for the sport of sailing, has launched a new community sailing program made possible by a donation from the Thomas and Stacey Siebel Foundation. The purpose of this Siebel Sailors Program is to increase diversity and opportunity  in the sport of sailing by providing resources and support to youth sailors at public access sailing centers across the country. 

US Sailing is highlighting the Supporting Siebel Centers that will implement this innovative program from the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Northern California regions. 

Centers can be found at Alameda Community Sailing Center (Calif.); Golden Gate  Yacht Club Youth Sailing Lake George, nestled in upstate New York’s Adirondack Mountains, is a crown jewel for pleasure boating. Foundation (Calif.); Sheridan Shore Sailing School (Ill.); Jackson Park Yacht Club Foundation (Ill.); Sheboygan Youth Sailing Center (Wis.); Downtown Sailing Center (Md.); and Baltimore County Sailing Center (Md.).
