Member Eric James will be sailing the Pacific leg of the Clipper Round the World Race aboard charity partner UNICEF this March–April.

UNICEF, the only charity partner in the race, is one of ten ocean-going sailboats that started racing last August in the UK. During March and April, the race goes from Qingdao, China to Seattle, Washington (with only one stop in South Korea). Eric's career is in international humanitarian aid and they are fundraising for children around the world and it'd be great if people care to donate via this link.

Update

eric james clipper around the world race 2026After 32 days and 6,462 nautical miles crossing the Pacific Ocean on a 70-foot yacht, Eric James is adjusting back to life on land. James was one of 18 crew members in a 10-boat race from China to Seattle, sailing on a yacht supporting UNICEF in the Clipper Round the World Race.

“It was awesome,” James said of the nonstop, often exhausting journey through cold, rough conditions. Crew members, most of whom were strangers before the race, worked together around the clock and experienced everything from dolphins and glowing bioluminescence to dangerous storms. One sailor broke his leg and had to be rescued by the Japanese Coast Guard.

Although the boat finished sixth, James said the experience was “like family” and meaningful because it helped raise awareness and funds for children in need worldwide.
